Brand Moves: Yard Sale Pizza x Dishoom

Yard Sale Pizza

Two of the UK’s most-loved restaurant brands have joined forces this month, and it’s a collaboration that says as much about where the consumer sector is heading as it does about what’s on the menu.

Yard Sale Pizza, known for its neighbourhood-first approach and loyal London following, has had a big week, not only opening its 15th site in Battersea, but also announcing an iconic partnership with none other than Dishoom.

From 1st to 28th October, Yard Sale will serve the Vada Pow Pizza, inspired by Dishoom’s signature Bombay street dish, the Vada Pau, topped with golden potato vada, green chutney, tamarind chutney and masala powder, on Yard Sale’s classic tomato and Fior di latte mozzarella base, finished with coriander. There’s also a Chilli Cheese Garlic Bread twist, reimagined from Dishoom’s Chilli Cheese Toast, plus a side of the cult-favourite Dishoom House Chutney.

The Power of Collaboration in a Changing Market

This is more than a great crossover moment for food lovers. It’s a smart brand move that highlights how founder-led businesses are driving innovation through collaboration, something we’re seeing more often across the UK consumer landscape.

Both Yard Sale Pizza and Dishoom have built strong, distinctive identities rooted in story and culture. Yard Sale grew from a small neighbourhood startup into a citywide success story, scaling organically while maintaining its playful, community-first tone. Dishoom, meanwhile, has redefined Indian dining in the UK with its immersive, story-led approach and consistent brand experience.

Together, they represent the best of founder-led creativity, where growth comes from genuine connection, not just capital injection.

What It Tells Us About Consumer Hiring

At Consumer Exec, we’re constantly analysing how these cultural and commercial shifts impact hiring. The Yard Sale x Dishoom collaboration reflects three key trends shaping the talent landscape in 2025:

  1. Creative cross-functionality – Brands are seeking marketing, operations and strategy professionals who can think laterally, bridging creativity with commercial acumen. A campaign like this isn’t just about food — it’s about brand storytelling, partnerships, and community activation.
  2. Founder-led growth demands adaptable talent – Businesses scaling in the £5m–£50m range are increasingly looking for mid-to-senior hires who can wear multiple hats — stepping into hybrid commercial, finance, or marketing roles that evolve as fast as the brand itself.
  3. Culture is a competitive edge – In a market saturated with choice, maintaining brand integrity through growth is a differentiator. That means hiring people who understand not just what the brand sells, but what it stands for.

Growth with Heart

Yard Sale Pizza’s steady rise — from a single East London site to 15 — shows how sustainable scaling can look when led by founders who prioritise people and product equally. It’s a reminder that in consumer, success stories aren’t written in spreadsheets; they’re baked in ovens, served with authenticity, and shared by communities who genuinely care.

What’s Next for Consumer Brands

Collaborations like Yard Sale x Dishoom signal a continued shift toward experience-driven brand growth. Whether it’s food, fashion, or beauty, customers are craving story, texture, and connection. The most exciting consumer brands are those that find fresh ways to deliver it, often through creative partnerships that merge audiences and ideas.

For candidates, this means opportunity. The brands shaping tomorrow’s consumer landscape are looking for people who can build brands like these from the inside out, individuals with curiosity, agility, and emotional intelligence, as well as commercial know-how.
